Notifications about the coronavirus
Since the beginning of December 2019, there have been increased cases of respiratory diseases caused by a novel corona virus (SARS-CoV-2). The pathogen is transmissible from person to person. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the corona epidemic a pandemic. Strict measures are being taken nationwide to curb the spread of the virus. The number of people infected is also increasing massively in Germany.
The University of Freiburg is in constant contact with the responsible authorities and is following their recommendations in order to protect the health of its members as well as its guests and to enable rapid recovery in case of illness. The medical assessment of the responsible authorities is decisive for our actions. This website provides essential information, contact persons and recommendations for conduct since February 28, 2020. The information is continuously updated.
As a preventive measure, the university has set up a coordination team to deal with the consequences of the corona virus, in which all the competent departments of the central administration are involved. If you have any questions that cannot be answered by the information provided, please contact the coordination team.
The following guidelines and recommendations apply to all members of the University of Freiburg. They shall continue to apply in principle until 30 November 2020.
The "General SARS-CoV-2 Hygiene Regulations for the University of Freiburg (SARS-CoV-2 University Hygiene Regulations)" has been in effect since 26.5.2020. The regulations set out in this hygiene order define a minimum standard that must be implemented in all university institutions. The regulations are regularly adapted to the current legal regulations, the official requirements and recommendations as well as to the resulting changes in the corona measures of the University. It is initially to be observed indefinitely and in its currently valid version.

Since 20 April 2020, the studies have been resumed in digital formats. Lectures for the summer semester will be held from 11 May to 31 July 2020, initially - wherever possible - in digital form.
