Research Strategy Board
The Research Strategy Board (RSB) was established in 2019 as an independent advisory commission of the Rectorate. The body of experts is tasked with making recommendations to the Rectorate that are to serve as a basis for decisions on research strategy and policy. In doing so, the members of the Research Strategy Commission always keep an eye on the long-term development of the university as a whole.
In particular, their responsibilities include the following:
- monitoring the development of the university’s overall research profile and advising the spokespersons for profile fields and emerging fields,
- advising the Rectorate and particularly the vice president for research and innovation on issues pertaining to research strategy and policy, including questions on the university’s research funding instruments, research structures, concepts for research centers, etc.,
- recommendations on the awarding of Saltus! groups as a university research funding format
Its members are appointed by the Rectorate for a term of three years. They may be reappointed.
The Research Strategy Board is composed of the following members:
- one representative each from the four large subject areas natural sciences, engineering, humanities, and social sciences,
- one representative from the field of medicine, and
- one representative of early-career researchers.
- The rector and the vice president for research and innovation are ex officio members.
The Research Strategy Board may call in additional experts to deliberate on special issues.
The chair of the commission is the vice president for research and innovation. The head office of the Research Strategy Commission is located in the office of the vice president for research and innovation and is supervised by Ms. Anh Nhi Dao.
